White fascia, soffit and box end detail on the corner of a brick house

Fascias & Soffits in Peterborough

Replacement fascia boards, soffits and bargeboards.

Fascia boards run along the roof edge and support the guttering. Soffits close the underside of the eaves, while bargeboards finish the gable ends.

We replace damaged roofline boards and carry out associated guttering work. The existing condition and proposed replacement are discussed before an estimate is agreed.

Signs you might need this

  • Flaking paint and soft timber at the eaves
  • Gaps where birds or wasps are getting into the roof
  • Gutters dropping as their brackets lose grip
  • Dark staining under the eaves
  • Bargeboards on the gable split or bowing

What the work covers

  • Fascia boards
  • Soffits, including vented soffits
  • Bargeboards and gable trims
  • Box ends and corner finishing
  • Refitting or replacing gutters at the same time

Considering solar panels? We can check whether the roof is in a suitable condition first and coordinate the roofing side with the installation. See our solar service.

Questions about fascias & soffits

Can you cover over the old boards?

The existing boards need to be inspected first. Damaged timber may need removing rather than covering.

Will the roof edge be disturbed?

Some access to the roof edge may be required. The estimate will explain the proposed work.

Planning fascias & soffits

Should timber behind a fascia be inspected?

Yes. The supporting structure must be suitable for secure fixing. Covering weak or decayed timber with a board is not a repair.

Why consider loft ventilation during soffit replacement?

Soffits or the eaves may form part of the roof’s air path. Replacement details should preserve the ventilation required by the construction.

Does a new fascia fix a wrongly positioned gutter?

Not by itself. Gutter alignment, brackets and the eaves runoff detail need specifying appropriately.

Can roofline work be phased separately from a re-roof?

Possibly, but the connection between the covering and eaves should be planned so later work does not undo the earlier detail.

Should concealed eaves defects be included in the estimate?

The estimate should explain known work and how unforeseen deterioration would be discussed before additional work is agreed.

Can roofline replacement affect the appearance of a protected house?

Yes. Check the existing material and applicable heritage restrictions before changing the visible profile or finish.
